Shaw made 0 and 4 in Adelaide Test and dropped a simple catch as well.
Shaw, who came into this Test side with much hopes of reigniting his Test career, which had started off brilliantly with a 99-ball century on debut. However, since then, he has not managed to do much in the chances he got in New Zealand and has a total of 339 runs 5 Tests with one century and two half-centuries.
Shaw has been accused of faulty batting technique for an opener, which was mightily exposed by Pat Cummins and co in Adelaide, as Shaw fell for 0 and 4, getting clean bowled in both innings in near-identical fashion. Even Australia legend Ricky Ponting pointed out what was wrong with his technique.
Now with all possibility of him being dropped for the MCG Boxing day Test, Prithvi Shaw posted a cryptic message on his Instagram story. “If sometimes people demotivates you for something you try to do, that means you can do that but they can't,” the message read.
It is possible that Shaw is trying to keep himself positive and hoping for another chance in MCG, where the traditional red-ball will be employed and he might do better with the bat.
However, Shaw hadn’t done much when compared to the Shubman Gill, who is in line to replace him. Gill was positive in the practice matches and has a watertight technique for the Test format if taken into consideration with Shaw.
It remains to be seen if Shaw will get one more chance to prove his detractors right or not.
