Having taken an overall lead of 62 runs at stumps on Day 2, Team India were expected to dominate the Adelaide Test but Australian pacers changed the course of the game in the first session on Day 3.

Australia bundled out the visitors for an abysmal 36 thanks to sensational bowling performances from Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins.

While Hazlewood dismissed Mayank Agarwal (9), Ajinkya Rahane (0), Hanuma Vihari (8), Wriddhiman Saha (4) and Ravichandran Ashwin (0), Cummins got rid Cheteshwar Pujara (0), Virat Kohli (4), Jasprit Bumrah (2) after dismissing Shaw overnight.

Cummins was also accounted for Mohammad Shami’s retired hurt as his short delivery forced the latter to walk off the field and the Indian innings was terminated at 36 for 9 in 21.2 overs.

Chasing the target of 90 in the fourth innings, Australia got off to a brilliant start as the duo of Matthew Wade and Joe Burns added 70 runs for the opening wicket.

Wade got run out for 33 while Ashwin removed Marnus Labuschagne (6) cheaply but Joe Burns (51*) held the one end firmly and remained unbeaten alongside Steve Smith (1*) to take the hosts over the line with 8 wickets in hand.

Cricket experts on Twitter hailed Australia’s comeback on the third day, which saw them taking a 1-0 lead in the four-Test series.
