Team India recorded their lowest ever Test score of 36/9 in terminated second innings of the first Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday (December 19).

India's earlier lowest score in the longest format was 42 at Lord's in 1974 against England.

To make matters worse, pacer Mohammad Shami's series could well be over owing to a wrist injury which he sustained while tackling Pat Cummins’ short ball. As a result, Shami walked off the field and the Indian innings was terminated at 36 for 9 in 21.2 overs.

Despite taking a 53-run first innings lead, the visitors are now staring at a humiliating defeat with only 89 runs to defend in the fourth innings.

None of them in the Indian batting line-up managed to touch the double-digit mark. Mayank Agarwal was the top-scorer with 40-ball 9.
