Rahane batted superbly for his 108 not out in India A's 237/8 by the close of play on Day 1.
Rahane played a knock of 108* versus an in-form Australia A attack at Sydney's Drummoyne Oval on Sunday (December 6).
The 32-year-old showed admirable resilience in tough conditions where apart from him and No.3 Cheteshwar Pujara (54), the rest of the batting unit struggled.
Rahane looked at home through his yet unbeaten 228-ball knock and helped the visitors survive till the close of play, guiding the tail intelligently.
Runs at the beginning of the Australian summer augur well for Rahane, who'll also be captaining India during the Border-Gavaskar when skipper Virat Kohli returns home on paternity leave after the first Test in Adelaide.
The cricket fraternity reacted to Rahane's superlative hundred with praise and hoped that he continues in this vein.
