Abhishek Sharma was the star of the third and final T20I between Afghanistan and India that was played on September 17, 2026, in Delhi. India defeated hosts Afghanistan by 127 runs in a one-sided contest, and Abhishek Sharma won the Player of the Match and Player of the Series.

After scoring 82 and 39 in the first two T20Is, Abhishek Sharma went one step ahead in his destructive ways. Abhishek and Sanju Samson scored 142 runs in only 9.5 overs after India was asked to bat first. Samson made 50 in 35 balls, but it was Abhishek who slammed a 16-ball fifty and went on to hit the fastest century by a batter from a full-member nation in T20Is.

He slammed 108 runs in just 34 balls with 9 fours and 11 sixes, with his century coming in just 30 balls. His knock helped India post 221/7 in 20 overs. In response, Afghanistan made 94 runs as Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravi Bishnoi picked three wickets apiece.

After the match, Abhishek Sharma revealed that his celebration after scoring his record-breaking hundred wasn't a copy of Erling Haaland's famous one.

The Indian opener disclosed that he was genuinely attempting to raise awareness about meditation and its benefits for him. Abhishek fell to the ground and struck a meditation pose after reaching the milestone.

After the game, Abhishek told the broadcasters that he has been incorporating meditation into his life for the past year as a way to deal with the stress of playing cricket. The Indian opener claimed that meditation had really benefited him and that he wanted to demonstrate the practice through his celebration.

"This is something I have been doing for quite some time, six months to a year. I have focused a lot on meditation and manifestation because when you are playing cricket throughout the year, there are a lot of ups and downs as a cricketer.

So how do you keep your mind stable in that? I think meditation really helped me a lot, and I just wanted that if someone sees it, if any cricketer feels that it actually really helped me from the last six to eight months. So that was the specific celebration for that, that this is something that is keeping me stable," said Abhishek, as quoted by India Today.

Abhishek Sharma made 229 runs in 3 T20Is at an average of 76.33 and a strike rate of 269.11, including one ton and one fifty, with the best score of 108. He hit 18 fours and 22 sixes.
