Rajasthan Royals (RR) teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been on a record-breaking spree lately. He became the youngest and fastest player to aggregate 500 IPL runs on Wednesday (April 22).
During the IPL 2026 match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Ekana Cricket Stadium, the southpaw broke Glenn Maxwell's record for fastest to 500 runs by 33 balls, reaching the milestone in just 227 deliveries. He achieved this feat at the age of 15 years and 26 days, surpassing Prithvi Shaw's record.
During a post-match interaction with Star Sports, Sooryavanshi made a candid admission about watching cartoons before games.
“Dimaag me kuch nahi chalta hai. Aaj bhi har din match se pahle hum bhi cartoon dekhte hain, aadat hai dekhne ka (smile). Abhi bhi hum cartoon dekh rahe hain, par focus game par bhi hai (Even today I watch cartoons before every match, but focus is on game too),” the youngster said.
Sooryavanshi endured a rare failure in the match against LSG, scoring 8 off 11 balls before being dismissed by left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan. However, he was happy that his team emerged victorious and expressed confidence of doing well in the next fixture.
“Accha karenge agla match me. Jeet ke 2 points liye, aage badi playoffs ki taraf (I will do well in the next match. We took two points and we will move towards the playoffs),” he added.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has recorded several crucial innings for RR this season, including 78 off 26 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), 52 off 17 balls against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and 39 off 14 balls against Mumbai Indians (MI). In doing so, he has dominated leading international bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Josh Hazlewood.
Rajasthan Royals will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday (April 25).
