Warner is captaining the Karachi Kings franchise in PSL 2026.
According to a report by news.com.au, NSW Police stated that Warner failed a breath test late on Sunday night in Maroubra, Sydney, and was nearly double the legal alcohol limit.
Warner stopped and parked his vehicle before arriving at the testing site. When officers contacted him and gave him a breath test, which yielded a positive result. Warner was detained and transported to Maroubra Police Station, where he provided a reading of 0.1. He is scheduled to appear in court in May.
“About 5:30 pm today (Sunday 5 April 2026), police were conducting stationary random breath testing on Malabar Road, Maroubra. A van was seen to allegedly stop short of the testing site and park. Officers attached to the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command approached the vehicle and subjected the driver, a 39-year-old man, to roadside testing, which returned a positive result," the NSW police statement read as per news.com.au.
David Warner has returned to Pakistan to resume his PSL 2026 duties, where he is leading the Karachi Kings franchise.
Warner played 112 Tests, 161 ODIs, and 110 T20Is for Australia from 2009 to 2024. After calling time on his international career, Warner has continued to play in T20 leagues, including the BBL and the PSL.
His last outing in the most popular T20 league, IPL, was in 2024, before he was released by Delhi Capitals before the IPL 2025 mega auction.
