KL Rahul, India's captain won his third toss in a row and decided to bat first. Deepak Chahar and Avesh Khan were included in the team in place of Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj.
After Shikhar Dhawan (40) and KL Rahul (30) added 63 runs for the first wicket on the used pitch, Shubman Gill led the charge and added 140 runs with Ishan Kishan for the third wicket. Kishan made 50 in 61 balls with 6 fours before getting run out.
