Team India continued their dominance over Zimbabwe in the ongoing ODI series as they crushed the hosts by five wickets in the second game at Harare Sports Club to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Invited to bat first, Zimbabwe were bowled out for a paltry 161 in 38.1 overs. It was a listless performance with the bat as most of the wickets fell for a single-digit score. Sean Williams was the top scorer with 42 while Ryan Burl remained unbeaten on 39.

Shardul Thakur starred with the ball for the visitors, claiming three wickets by conceding 38 runs in his seven overs.

In reply, the Men in Blue lost stand-in skipper KL Rahul (1) cheaply but the duo of Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill scored 33 runs each added 42-run for the second wicket to steady the ship.

India might have lost Dhawan, Gill and Ishan Kishan (6) in quick succession but they still chased down the paltry target with ease. The pair of Deepak Hooda and Sanju Samson forged a 56-run stand for the fifth wicket to put the team on the brink of victory.

While Hooda got out on 25, Samson held the one end firmly and played an unbeaten knock of 43 in 39 balls to take the team over the line with 146 deliveries to spare.

The third and final ODI will be played at the same venue on Monday (August 22).
