Regis Chakabva was named captain of Zimbabwe
For the three-match ODI series against India that is slated to get underway on August 18, batter Regis Chakabva has been named captain by Zimbabwe Cricket of a 17-member team.
The series forms a part of the ICC ODI Super League and all the 3 games will be hosted at the Harare Sports Club on August 18, 20 and 22 respectively.
"Regis Chakabva will lead the home side in the absence of regular captain Craig Ervine who is still nursing a left hamstring tear. Zimbabwe will also be without Blessing Muzarabani, Tendai Chatara, and Wellington Masakadza who are recuperating from thigh muscle tear, collarbone fracture, and shoulder tendon injuries respectively," according to an official statement.
Zimbabwe recently defeated Bangladesh in both the T20I and ODI series at home.
On Thursday (August 11), BCCI announced that KL Rahul will be leading the Men in Blue for the Zimbabwe tour while Shikhar Dhawan will serve as the vice-captain.

Several senior players including the likes of Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Virat Kohli, and Hardik Pandya have been rested.
Rahul will return to action after being out of it since IPL 2022. He suffered from a sports hernia and was ruled out on the eve of the home T20I series against South Africa, where he was supposed to captain India after which he flew to Germany for surgery. He missed the England tour as a result.
He was then supposed to tour the West Indies for the T20I series, but suffered from Covid-19 and missed that series as well.
