MI won their second WPL title in three seasons.
Mumbai Indians Women (MI) won their second Women's Premier League (WPL 2025) title in three seasons, defeating Delhi Capitals Women (DC) by eight runs in the final on Saturday, March 15.
This was the third time Delhi Capitals had topped the points table in the WPL tournament and qualified for the finals. The summit clash was played at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, and Meg Lanning of DC won the toss and opted to chase.
MI captain Harmanpreet Kaur led from the front with 66 from 44 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes. Nat Sciver-Brunt made 30 runs as Mumbai posted 149/7 in 20 overs. Marizanne Kapp, Jess Jonassen, and Shree Charani took 2 wickets each for Delhi.
In the chase, barring Marizanne Kapp’s 40 and Jemimah Rodrigues's 30 runs and 25* by Niki Prasad, Delhi batters couldn’t withstand the pressure put on by the Mumbai bowling. Nat Sciver-Brunt took 3/30, while Amelia Kerr took 2 wickets as DC could only muster 141/9 and lost the game by 8 runs.
Harmanpreet Kaur won the Player of the Match and Nat Sciver-Brunt was the Player of the Tournament.
Mumbai Indians won their second WPL title in 3 editions and the team was elated.
