DC’s innings crumbled after losing three wickets in four balls in the eighth over.
Opting to bat first, DC got off to a dazzling start as the duo of Shafali Verma and skipper Meg Lanning added 64 runs for the opening wicket.
Left-arm spinner Sophie Molineux drew the first blood for RCB by removing the dangerous Shafali for 44 off 27 balls in the eighth over. In the same over, Molineux also dismissed Jemimah Rodrigues and Alice Capsey in successive deliveries for ducks to reduce the Capitals to 64/3.
While Shafali went for a big shot and was caught at deep mid-wicket, Rodrigues and Capsey were cleaned up by Molineux, who returned with the figures of 3 for 20 in four overs.
After losing three wickets in the span of four deliveries, DC’s innings crumbled under pressure. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for a paltry 113 in 18.3 overs.
Shreyanka Patil troubled the Delhi batters with her off-spin. He got the prized scalp of Meg Lanning and also ran through the lower-order to finish with the figures of 4 for 12 in her 3.3 overs. Leg-spinner Asha Sobhana (2-14 in three overs) also picked up a couple of wickets.
Thanks to the stunning display of spinners, RCB set themselves a target of 114 to clinch their maiden WPL title.
