Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Ellyse Perry starred for her team in their recent WPL 2024 match against UP Warriorz on March 4, 2024. This was their last game at home ground in Bengaluru and RCB won the match quite comfortably.

RCB was put into bat first by UPW captain Alyssa Healy and they put on 198/3 in 20 overs. Captain Smriti Mandhana led from the front with 80 in 50 balls, while Ellyse Perry hammered 58 in 37 balls.

In reply, Healy scored 55 for the UPW, while Deepti Sharma (33) and Poonam Khemnar (31) tried their best, but the total was too much for them to chase. UP Warriorz only managed 175/8 in 20 overs and lost the game by 23 runs.

RCB are third on the points table with 3 wins from 5 matches, while Delhi Capitals lead the table with 3 wins from 4 matches.

During her devastating knock, Ellyse Perry not only smashed the UPW bowlers but also damaged the display car near the boundary.  The incident took place in the 19th over of the RCB innings during their game against the UP Warriorz on Monday at the Chinnaswamy.

In the penultimate over, Perry tucked into an 'in-the-slot' delivery from Deepti Sharma and smashed it straight right into the glass window of the Tata punch EV car on display. Perry herself felt the sting of the six as evident from the expressions on her face.

During a chat with captain Smriti Mandhana after the match, Perry was concerned that someone might ask her to pay for damages and also said that she didn’t have any insurance in India.

"I was a bit worried, not sure I have insurance to cover me. So, in a bit of strife there. I hope no one is charging me for that,” Perry told Mandhana.

"All games we have played here have been amazing. Best atmosphere I have played in front of in my career. It is just a cool feeling to have that support, we are very lucky. We have played a lot of cricket in the last two months and felt I had a pretty good handle on the game. Had a great chance tonight to get myself in with Smriti hitting as well as she was," Perry said.

"It was really good fun. We are trying to pride ourselves on our fielding and trying to put in those extra yards. Tricky when there is a left-right combination but I think we had a good fielding effort. To hold on the way we did, with the ball and in the field, it is great for the girls,” she added.
