Royal Challenger Bangalore’s (RCB) Australia all-rounder Georgia Wareham almost pulled off a stupendous catch in the recent WPL 2024 match against Delhi Capitals on February 29, 2024. Her save was compared to AB de Villiers’ effort in IPL 2018.

It all happened during the 11th over of Delhi’s innings when Shafali Verma went berserk against Nadine de Klerk to play a huge six over deep mid-wicket. However, placed near the boundary line, Wareham kept her eyes on the ball before going for an acrobatic dive to save a certain six.

In fact, the effort reminded many of what de Villiers did in 2018 during an IPL match between RCB and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The South African superstar put up an almost similar effort before taking a gravity-defying catch.

AB de Villiers, then playing for RCB, jumped high in the air to grab the ball in the air. Alex Hales, playing for SRH, had hit the ball towards mid wicket boundary and it seemed like the ball would sail over for a six.

Showing his presence of mind near the boundary, ABD leapt at the ball and stuck it up his right hand and even managed to land back within the ropes. Hales could do all but stare in disbelief as his six was converted into his dismissal.
