Virat Kohli put on a show with the bat in the first innings of the second Test between India and West Indies at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain.

In what was his 500th international appearance, Kohli slammed 121 to help the visitors rack up a mammoth 438/10 in their first essay.

With this knock, Virat ended a five-year wait for an overseas Test century and also equalled the legendary Sir Donald Bradman’s tally of 29 tons in the longest format of the game.

Impressed with Kohli’s innings, West Indies legend Brian Lara issued a warning to bowlers around the world.

Lara mentioned that Kohli has looked in terrific touch in recent times and will take his Test average to over 50 again.

“He’s a great player, someone like that, you are not going to keep them down for long. If you do, some people have to pay at the end of the day. The way he has looked in the IPL and recently, he’s just an awesome player, and you can’t expect someone like that to be down for long,” Lara told RevSportz.

“Someone like him, I think he might be back to 50 average. He would want to finish somewhere in the late 50s. So he’s got to score a lot of runs and I think he’s got it in him. He’s got the discipline, he is committed and he is a joy to watch. People around the world loves seeing Virat Kohli bat,” he added.

It was Virat Kohli’s 76th century across formats and only the great Sachin Tendulkar is ahead of him with 100 international tons to his name.

Talking about the Port of Spain Test, West Indies ended the second day on 86/1, trailing India by 352 runs. Skipper Kraigg Brathwaite (37*) and Kirk McKenzie (14*) were unbeaten in the middle for the hosts.
