Virat Kohli is the first man to score a century in his 500th international match.
Indian team resumed their innings on 288/4 with Virat Kohli unbeaten on 87 and Ravindra Jadeja on 36*. And soon after the team’s 300 was brought up, Virat Kohli achieved another huge milestone as he cover-drove Shannon Gabriel for a four.
He brought up his 29th Test and 76th international century. This was also his first overseas Test ton since 2018 and he became the first batter to hit a ton in his 500th international game.
It was a huge moment for Virat Kohli, who endured a horrid phase from November 2019 to September 2022 without a single century in international cricket.
The relief of ending another century drought was visible on his face and he received unanimous applause from his teammates and opposition.
Amongst those who applauded Kohli for his milestone was Sachin Tendulkar, who holds the record for most international centuries-100. He posted a photo of Kohli kissing his wedding ring which he wears around his neck with a message.
“Another day, another century by Virat Kohli. Well played”- Tendulkar posted on his Instagram story.
