He was also seen having a lighthearted chat with coach Rahul Dravid.
Former India captain Virat Kohli was seen helping out rookie Yashasvi Jaiswal with his batting technique as the Indian team set up camp in Barbados to prepare for the two-Test series against the West Indies which begins in Dominica on July 12.
Jaiswal was named as one of the standby players for India in the World Test Championship final recently and the selectors kept faith in him and picked him for the West Indies Test and T20Is series.
With Cheteshwar Pujara losing his spot in the Indian XI, Jaiswal is expected to make his Test debut and take his place in the batting order, though he has some competition from Ruturaj Gaikwad.
On Tuesday, Jaiswal had an intense training and batting session in the nets and Kohli, after having done his own training, carefully examined Jaiswal's batting and shared his valuable inputs with the youngster.
In a video posted by veteran sports journalist Vimal Kumar, Kohli was seen having a long pep talk with Jaiswal, clearly suggesting a few tweaks in the youngster's technique.
Apart from this, Kohli was seen in a jovial mood as he faced R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jaydev Unadkat in the nets. After that he was seen having a fun chat with coach Rahul Dravid and the two could be seen laughing and chirping away, gearing up for the series rather lively.
This is Kohli’s fourth Test tour of the West Indies and in 9 Tests, he has 463 runs to his name with the highest score of 200.
