Dhawan was caught by Shamarh Brooks and Iyer was pouched by Pooran as India made 308/7 in 50 overs.
Out of the two dismissals, Shikhar Dhawan was the most heart-breaking as he fell merely three runs short of what would have been an impressive century, his 18th in the format. He had added 119 runs for the opening wicket with Shubman Gill, who made 64 runs.
Dhawan was looking good for his century until he tried to cut Gudakesh Motie to the offside but managed to hit the ball in the air, where Shamarh Brooks took a brilliant catch at backward point.

Then an over later, Nicholas Pooran took an amazing leaping catch to send back Shreyas Iyer, who had added 94 runs with Dhawan for the second wicket and made 54 runs himself.

In the end, Deepak Hooda’s 27 and Akshar Patel’s 21 pushed India to a final total of 308/7 in 50 overs. Alzarri Joseph and Gudakesh Motie with two wickets each were the best bowlers from West Indies side.
