Rashid Khan bowled the most expensive 20-ball spell in The Hundred history.
Invincibles were asked to bat first and, thanks to 63 off 29 by Donovan Fereira and 44 by Jordan Cox, posted 180/8 in their 100-ball innings. Trent Boult, Adam Milne, and Benny Howell took two wickets each for Phoenix.
In return, Will Smeed gave a good start to Phoenix with 51 in 29 balls, while Joe Clark made 27 in 14 balls. However, it was captain Liam Livingstone who starred with 69* in 27 balls with 7 fours and 5 sixes, taking his team to victory in 98 balls with four wickets in hand.
He took a special liking to Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan, treating him mercilessly.
Between the 76th and 80th balls of the Phoenix's chase in the match, Rashid bowled a five-ball spell during which Livingstone hit three straight sixes with a boundary on either side.
As the balls flew loopily out of Rashid's hands, he was unable to get the lengths right, and his speeds were down, which allowed Livingstone to play his favorite slog over and over.
Rashid concluded his 20-ball stint, giving away 59 runs without taking a wicket. For Rashid, this was the costliest T20 spell (the Hundred is regarded as T20 for statistical purposes) and the worst 20-ball spell stats in the Hundred's history.
