Babar Azam last scored an ODI century in 2023 against Nepal in the Asia Cup.
Pakistan was asked to bat first after the West Indies won the toss in the rain-affected match. Hasan Nawaz top-scored with 36, and Hussain Talat made 31, while openers Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique made 23 and 26, respectively. Babar Azam got out for a three-ball duck, falling to Jaydeb Seales, as Pakistan made 171/7 in 37 overs.
Despite a poor top-order performance, Roston Chase’s 49*, Sherfane Rutherford’s 45, and 32 by captain Shai Hope helped the West Indies achieve the target of 181 with 5 wickets in hand and win the match by the DLS method.
The focus immediately fell on Babar Azam, the former Pakistan captain, who made 47 in the first ODI and is now being questioned by fans on social media. In August 2023, he played against Nepal and scored his last international century.
Babar Azam, who was once regarded as Virat Kohli's heir in ODI cricket, has gone more than 700 days and 71 innings without scoring a century since then.
This led to Babar Azam being trolled on social media for his failure to score a century for over 700 days.
