At Tuesday's World Championship of Legends (WCL) match in Northampton, South Africa veteran AB de Villiers suddenly turned back time by deflating the India Champions. De Villiers, 41, is making his first appearance in a franchise T20 league in four years.
De Villiers entered the game at No. 4 in the ninth over. The captain of the South Africa champions then used a variety of smashes to restrict the senior bowlers from India, displaying his trademark 360-degree flair.
The South African champions scored 206/6 in 20 overs because of De Villiers' explosive 61* runs in 30 balls, four fours, and three sixes.
Here are the highlights of his knock:
In response, India could only conjure 111/9 with Stuart Binny top-scoring with 37 runs. AB de Villiers then shone in the field as well and turned back the clock to old times. With the help of Sarel Erwee, he produced another outstanding performance, helping to remove Yusuf Pathan with a brilliant tag-team catch.
De Villiers rushed and slid to grab the ball after Pathan slapped an Imran Tahir googly to wide long-on, then popped it back just in time as he was turned towards the boundary ropes. Erwee completed the amazing relay catch by pouching the ball solidly after it lobbed up.
