Aryaveer Kohli will feature in Delhi Premier League 2025 with South Delhi Superstarz team.
Virat Kohli's nephew Aryaveer Kohli, the son of his elder brother Vikas, is breaking into cricket as a leg spinner under the tutelage of Delhi coach and former India player Sarandeep Singh. After being signed by South Delhi Superstarz, the young cricket player is set to participate in the Delhi Premier League's second season, which will be his first time playing competitive cricket without the burden of his well-known last name.
Unlike his uncle Virat Kohli, who rose to prominence as a batsman, Aryaveer has opted to specialize in leg spin bowling. He has been working hard in the nets to improve his talents in this specific type of bowling.
The Delhi Premier League, where Aryaveer will compete, has previously shown to be a launching pad for promising players.
Aryaveer's coach Sarandeep Singh has expressed confidence in the young player's abilities and approach to the game.
"Aryaveer Kohli is a rising star. He's quite young. There's no baggage of the surname on the young lad. He's a really good and talented kid. He's been practising and putting in the hard work,” Sarandeep Singh told PTI.
Notable players such as Digvesh Rathi and Priyansh Arya signed Indian Premier League (IPL) contracts with the Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings, respectively, following strong performances in the tournament's inaugural season in 2024.
South Delhi Superstarz acquired Aryaveer at the most recent DPL 2025 auction. He will share the team alongside Digvesh Rathi, who earned one of the DPL’s highest salaries of Rs 38 lakh.
