Dilip Doshi played 33 Tests and 15 ODIs for India.
Former India spinner Dilip Doshi passed away at the age of 77 due to heart-related complications on Monday (June 23) in London. His wife, Kalindi; son, Nayan Doshi (a former first-class cricket player); and daughter, Vishakha, survive him.
Doshi was a late bloomer by Indian cricket standards, having made his debut against Australia on September 11, 1979, at the age of thirty. He was born in Rajkot in 1947.
Between 1979 and 1983, he played in 33 Test matches and 15 One-Day Internationals for India, taking 114 Test wickets at an average of 30.71. He was well known for his precision, remarkable control, and elegant left-arm spin.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) paid rich tribute to Dilip Doshi and posted, X: “The BCCI mourns the sad demise of former India spinner Dilip Doshi, who has unfortunately passed away in London. May his soul rest in peace."
Doshi also played first-class cricket for Saurashtra, Bengal, Warwickshire, and Nottinghamshire. Dilip Doshi played 238 FC matches and picked up 898 wickets with a best of 7/29 and also took 75 wickets in 59 List-A games with a best of 5/24.
