Rabada became only the second bowler to take fifer in WTC final.
In South Africa's first World Test Championship final (WTC 2025) against Australia, Kagiso Rabada demonstrated why he is still one of the best fast bowlers in the world of cricket. On a cloudy morning at Lord's, London, captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and chose to bowl, and Rabada led a passionate bowling display on Day 1.
Australia were bowled for just 212 in less than 60 overs, becoming Rabada the second fast bowler to take five wickets in a World Test Championship final. New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson was the first bowler to take a five-wicket haul in the WTC final. He picked 5/31 against India in the first-ever WTC final in 2021.
With three wickets taken by fellow bowler Marco Jansen, he posted outstanding figures of 5 for 51.
Rabada started his innings by removing Usman Khawaja for a 20-ball duck on the third ball of the seventh over. He then took Cameron Green's wicket on the final ball of the same over.
Aiden Markram completed Green's catch in the second slip after he scored four runs from three balls, while Khawaja was caught by David Bedingham in the first slip.
Rabada clean bowled Australian Test captain Pat Cummins for one on the fourth ball of the 53rd over of Australia's opening inning.
In the 55th over, he was hammered for two fours in three balls by Beau Webster, and Bedingham caught him out for 72 runs at the slip.
He then wrapped up Australia’s first inning by breaching Mitchell Starc’s defence and shattering his stumps. The left-arm pacer made 1 run from 12 balls.
