The incident happened during 4-day red-ball game between SA and Bangladesh emerging teams.
During the four-day red-ball encounter between the South Africa Emerging Team and the Bangladesh Emerging Team, a brawl broke out between South Africa bowler Tshepo Ntuli and Bangladesh batsman Ripon Mondol.
Ripon's six against Ntuli triggered the incident. He looked at the bowler as he walked to the opposite end of the field, where he would face his batting partner Mehidy Hasan, and then the Ntuli charged at him.
Ntuli grabbed the batter's helmet and pulled it twice after the two had shoved each other. Kamruzzaman, the umpire, rushed to stop it right away, but other players did not back him. As Ntuli charged at Ripon, a few South African players also joined him, and Ripon took off his helmet.
Here is the video:
"This is extreme, this is unacceptable. Normally, we see verbal altercations in a cricket field, but we don't often see a scuffle. Ntuli struck Ripon's helmet at one point," Nabil Kaiser, one of the on-air commentators, said as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.
It was not the end of the conflict. Ripon defended the delivery back towards the bowler, and three balls later, Ntuli threw the ball towards the batter. It was dodged by the batter. The sanctions will be revealed once the on-field umpires have submitted a formal report on the event.
Before any final punishment is taken, the match referee will provide BCB and CSA with a formal report on the event, according to ESPNCricinfo.
