The left-arm quick immediately walked over to confront the Proteas batter. Later in the same over, Shaheen appeared to obstruct Breetzke’s path when the latter was rushing for a single.

The two players then exchanged intense glares and words before the on-field umpire intervened to diffuse the situation.

Coming to the match, South Africa racked up 352/5 on the board after opting to bat first. Heinrich Klaasen (87), Matthew Breetzke (83), Temba Bavuma (82) and Kyle Verreynne (44*) made notable contributions with the bat.

In reply, the hosts were struggling at 119/3 after the end of 18 overs. The winner of this match will take on New Zealand in the final of the tri-series at the same venue on Friday (February 14).
