The interaction happened ahead of Kohli's Ranji Trophy return for Delhi.
The 36-year-old is training with the Delhi team in the lead up to the fixture. On Tuesday (January 28), Shawej Khan, Kohli’s former teammate and his son Kabir, attended the Delhi team’s training session.
After pictures of Kohli hugging Shawej went viral, a video of the legendary cricketer’s inspiring conversation with Kabir has taken the internet by storm.
In the clip, Kabir can be heard asking Kohli: “Indian cricketer banne ke liye kya karna padega (what one needs to do to become an Indian cricketer)?”
To which, the former Indian captain replied: “A lot of hard work. Your father should not tell you to practice or train. You should yourself say every morning that you want to go to practice. If someone practices for an hour, you do it for two hours. That is the only way."
“If someone scores a 50, you score a 100, and if someone scores a 100, you score a 200. Jo benchmark hai us se double (Whatever the benchmark is, you should do double of it),” he added.
The Ranji Trophy clash between Delhi and Railways was initially not on the broadcasters’ list, but the BCCI sources have informed that JioCinema will be telecasting the game.
“A decision has been taken and JioCinema will livestream the game. So all the Virat Kohli fans who are not in Delhi, need not worry. They can watch their favourite player live,” a BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
In the wake of the BGT debacle, which India lost 1-3 for the first time in 10 years, the BCCI made it mandatory for the centrally contracted players to play domestic red-ball cricket when not on national duty.
Kohli, who scored just 190 runs during the five-Test series in Australia, wasn't available for selection for Delhi's match against Saurashtra due to neck sprain last week.
