Pakistan won the second and third ODI to pocket the 3-match series 2-1.
Pakistan team under the captaincy of Mohammad Rizwan created history as they defeated Australia in the third ODI by 8 wickets. With this win, they also pocketed the three-match ODI series 2-1, their first such win in Australia in 22 years.
Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and chose to bowl first. For the first time in ODIs, Josh Inglis captained Australia, which featured a few new faces as the main players were rested.
Pakistani pacers Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, and Mohammad Hasnain took full advantage of the pace and bounce offered by the Perth wicket and rattled the Australian batting.
Shaheen and Naseem picked three wickets each, while Rauf took one and Hasnain snared one wicket as Australia was bundled out for 140 runs. Sean Abbott with 30 and Matthew Short with 22 were the only ones to cross the 20-run mark, while Coope Connelly retired hurt.
In reply, Saim Ayub made 42, and Abdullah Shafique made 37 before both fell to Lance Morris. But then Babar Azam (28*) and Mohammad Rizwan (30*) ensured that Pakistan reached the 141-run target with ease and 8 wickets in hand.
With this win, Pakistan won their first ODI series win in Australia since 2002. Haris Rauf was named the Player of the Match and Player of the Series as well.
The cricket fraternity was all ecstatic after Pakistan’s historic series win in Australia and lauded the Men in the Green side on social media.
