Tejashwi Yadav, ex-Deputy CM of Bihar, has claimed that ace India batter Virat Kohli had once played under his captaincy. Notably, Tejashwi, son of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, once was a budding cricketer and played a few domestic cricket matches for Bihar.

His only FC match for Jharkhand came in 2009 against Vidarbha in Cuttack, under the captaincy of Saurabh Tiwary. He also played 2 List-A games and 4 T20I matches, scoring 39 runs in all and picking one wicket.

Tejashwi was also part of the Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) IPL team from 2008 to 2012 but remained on the bench for the whole time. He retired from cricket in 2012 to focus on his political career. Tejashwi Yadav recently talked about his cricketing journey on social media, making quite a commotion.

The RJD leader claimed to have captained Indian cricket sensation Virat Kohli in domestic cricket, a fact that Yadav said has been widely overlooked despite Tejashwi's successful domestic career. He also mentioned that many current Indian cricket team players were among his teammates when he was playing.

In an interview with Zee Media, Tejashwi expressed his disappointment that his cricketing achievements have been overlooked, stating, "I was a cricketer and no one talks about it. Virat Kohli played in my captaincy. Did anyone ever talk about it? Why don't they do so? As a professional, I played a good cricket. Many Team India players are my batchmates."

He further revealed that he had to quit the sport due to fractures in both of his ligaments.

"I had to quit as my both ligaments were fractured. Let it be," Yadav said.
