Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan keeper-batter, was left stranded on 171 runs as captain Shan Masood declared the first innings on 448/6 against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on day two of the match. This left the keeper-batter 29 runs shy of a well-deserved double-century.

Pakistan was asked to bat first by Bangladesh and found themselves in trouble at 16/3. Then Saim Ayub (56) added 98 runs for the fourth wicket with vice-captain Saud Shakeel. But the biggest partnership came between Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan, who added 240 runs for the fifth wicket.

Shakeel made 141 runs, while Mohammad Rizwan was left stranded at 171* as Masood declared the innings.

The declaration aroused eyebrows, with many on social media insisting that the Pakistan captain might have waited for Rizwan to reach his double century. However, Shakeel, Masood's deputy, acknowledged in a news conference the next day that Rizwan was informed an hour before the declaration.

Meanwhile, a video has gone viral on social media, that shows Mohammad Rizwan throwing his bat towards Babar Azam, who was standing near the boundary and applauding his effort.

As Rizwan headed back to the pavilion after his great innings, he shared a sentimental moment with teammate Babar Azam. Rizwan tossed his bat playfully towards Babar on his way back to the dressing room.
