The Indian hockey team continued its brilliant run in the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024. India qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament by defeating Great Britain via a shoot-out at the Stade Yves-du-Manoir.

India gained a 1-0 lead in the game shortly after Amit Rohidas was sent off for putting a stick in the face of a British player. However, with halftime approaching, the Great Britain squad scored to equalize the score at 1-1. The score remained 1-1 till the end of 60 minutes.

Due to Amit Rohidas' red card, India played more than 40 minutes of the game with one fewer player. Amit Rohidas received a red card for a stick to the face of William Calnan of Great Britain. The TV umpire reviewed the replays and determined that it was an "unnatural movement of the stick".

While the match ended 1-1 after full-time, India advanced to the semi-finals after winning the shoot-out 4-2. PR Sreejesh was outstanding in his defense at the goalpost, saving almost confirmed goals.

India is just one win away from a second successive medal at the Olympics. They will now face either Germany or Argentina in the semi-finals.

The Indian cricket fraternity was all praises for the Indian hockey team for qualifying for the semi-finals and lauded them on X.
