Manu Bhaker scripted history by becoming first Indian athlete to win multiple medals in single Olympic edition.
Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh landed India's second medal of the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024 as the shooting pair won bronze in the 10m mixed team air pistol event on Tuesday.
Manu made history on Sunday by being the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal, while Sarabjot, who competed in the men's event, failed to make the podium.
Manu and Sarabjot, who qualified for the bronze medal match on Monday, defeated South Korea 16-10, doubling India's medal count in shooting at the Games.
With this medal win, Manu Bhaker also became the first athlete of independent India to win multiple medals at a single Olympic Games.
India has had multiple single medal winners in Olympics history like KD Jadhav, Abhinav Bindra, Saina Nehwal, Sushil Kumar, PV Sindhu, Neeraj Chopra, and many more. But Manu Bhaker is the first and only athlete to win multiple medals in a single edition of the Olympics games.
Bhaker will have a chance to win her third medal, as she’ll compete in the 25m air rifle event.
Meanwhile, Sarabjot Singh and Manu Bhaker received many accolades from the Indian cricket fraternity on social media for making India proud by winning the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024.
