India’s star pacer Mohammad Shami, who has been out of action since the ODI World Cup in November last year, finally hit the nets on Tuesday (July 16).

Taking to Instagram, Shami uploaded a video, which showed his recovery process. In the clip, the right-arm quick can be seen cautiously bowling a few deliveries in the training nets.

Shami underwent an operation on his Achilles tendon earlier this year. As a result, he missed the home Test series against England, followed by the IPL and the T20 World Cup.

Though Shami has recovered from the ankle injury, he is taking a measured approach to his return, refraining from bowling at full tilt just yet.

"Vibing with the latest, grinding for the greatest," Shami captioned his post.

Despite battling through injury during the 2023 World Cup, Shami finished the showpiece tournament as the leading wicket-taker with 24 wickets from seven matches at an incredible average of 10.70, including three five-wicket hauls.

Shami is likely to make a comeback in the home series against Bangladesh. India will host Bangladesh for two Tests and three T20 Internationals in September-October.
