Australia pacer Mitchell Starc recited a funny anecdote about his IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders getting less prize money for winning the IPL 2024 than what he was paid by the franchise in the auction.

Mitchel Starc became the most expensive buy in IPL auction history when KKR splurged INR 24.75 Crs for his services in IPL 2024. However, Starc couldn’t translate that amount to success, right until the IPL final in Chennai.

KKR bowled out Sunrisers Hyderabad for the lowest total in an IPL final, just 113 runs, as Australia's left-arm quick Starc shone brightly, claiming figures of 2-14, reaffirming his status as one of the premier bowlers in the world's most lucrative T20 tournament.

Starc concluded the IPL with two standout performances, including a match-winning 3-34 in the first playoff against the same opponent. He was also named the Player of the Final for his bowling performance.

Meanwhile, Starc appeared on a podcast and revealed that his KKR teammate Angkrish Raghuvanshi was surprised to see the prize money KKR got after winning the IPL 2024. Starc also said that the presentation started too late, killing all the enthusiasm the players had.

"The IPL Final presentation didn't start until midnight & basically killed the vibe. Then cheques for the winning team came over, they had INR 20CR price. Angkrish (Raghuvanshi) looked at that and said - Huh! it's not even what you got paid,” Starc can be heard saying in the video.

The 2024 title victory marked KKR's third title triumph, following their maiden trophy win in 2012 and then in 2014.
