India qualified for the semi-finals despite losing to South Africa due to better NRR.
Chasing 211 runs to win the game, they could only reach 156 runs in their 20 overs, but managed to just pip South Africa in the net run rate to make it to the semifinals.
However, in the tense chase, Irfan and Yusuf were doing their best to win the game for India. Yusuf (54* off 44) and Irfan (35 off 21) shared a crucial stand in the match, but were unable to assist their team in crossing the finisih line due to the increasing asking rate.
On the first ball of the 19th over, the incident started when Irfan played a lofted shot off Dale Steyn's ball. When the ball dropped between two fast-moving fielders, Irfan and Yusuf tried to steal a few runs. Yusuf first agreed, but after taking a few steps forward, he changed his mind. Irfan was resolved to go for the second.
When Steyn pulled the through and took the bails off, Irfan was left in a tight spot. Irfan bit his brother Yusuf hard and was left fuming over it too.

Despite India's 54-run loss, Yusuf Pathan managed to get his team to the semifinals. Irfan Pathan had calmed down by then and hilariously kissed Yusuf's forehead in celebration of the team's qualification for the knockout round.
