Ace India batter Virat Kohli put the spotlight on pacer Jasprit Bumrah as he took the stage during Team India’s special felicitation at the Wankhede Stadium, as the T20 World Cup winners were handed an INR 125 Cr cheque by the BCCI.
The Indian contingent flew to Mumbai in the afternoon after having been hosted by PM Narendra Modi in Delhi. The entire fleet had reached Delhi this early morning from Barbados on a chartered flight and after the breakfast meeting with the PM, came to Mumbai.
The Indian team was then given an open bus parade from Marine Drive to the Wankhede Stadium where they were greeted by thousands of fans, cheering for them.

He was the one who bowled two excellent overs at the death when South Africa looked like chasing 30 runs in the last 30 balls. He gave just 6 runs for one wicket in those two overs and Proteas couldn’t handle the pressure.
“I am sure like, everyone in this stadium, we also felt that - man, is it going to slip away? What I want everyone to do is applaud a guy, who brought us back in the tournament again, and again, and again A huge shoutout to Jasprit Bumrah. Jasprit Bumrah is a once-in-a-generation bowler. We are lucky that he plays for us,” Kohli told a packed Wankhede crowd who were chanting ‘Boom Boom’ to salute the fast bowler.
During this event, presenter Gaurav Kapoor told Kohli that he is thinking of signing a petition to declare Jasprit Bumrah a national treasure. To which Kohli said that he is ready for the petition now itself.
"I am thinking of signing a petition to declare Jasprit Bumrah as a national treasure. Will you sign it?" he asked.
