Pandya had twisted his ankle during CWC 2023 match against Bangladesh.
Pandya had twisted his left ankle while trying to stop a ball with his foot against Bangladesh in Pune and since then, the all-rounder has been out of commission. He missed the rest of the World Cup 2023, the home Australia T20I series, and the white-ball leg of the South Africa tour.
It remains to be seen whether Hardik Pandya returns to the Indian team for the upcoming three T20Is against Afghanistan at home or if he will be ready for action directly in the IPL 2024.
Notably, Hardik Pandya is slated to captain Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024 after a blockbuster trade from Gujarat Titans.
Pandya joined GT in IPL 2022 after being released by MI and led the Gujarat franchise to the IPL title in their debut year. Hardik also captained GT to IPL 2023 final where they lost to Chennai Super Kings.
Hardik Pandya has also been leading the India T20I team since the T20 World Cup 2022 and is tipped to be the next full-time white-ball captain of the Men in Blue side.
Meanwhile, as he recovers from his ankle injury, Pandya shared a video of his training on Instagram. He captioned the post: “Progress, everyday.”
