Sledging has been a part of cricket ever since the game was invented centuries ago. The evolution of cricket with audio and video of players on the ground being shared with the audience at home has given a new dimension to the strategy.

Australian teams during the late 90s and early 2000s under Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting were not only famous for their skills on the field but also for their aggressive sledging of opponents. Waugh dubbed sledging as a tactic he named mental disintegration to put pressure on opponents.

Ponting's Australia had mastered the art of sledging, winning two World Cup titles during that period. And in recent times, the Virat Kohli-led Indian team gave it back to the Australians in their tone, which led to the once master sledgers complaining about the same.

Meanwhile, a funny video has gone viral on social media, in which the captain of a young kid’s team is giving a pep talk to his players before a game, and sledging the opponents is a huge part of his strategy.
