Gill revealed the New Year resolutions that he had made just before the start of 2023.
Gill shared a picture of the handwritten note he wrote on December 31, 2022, outlining his goals for the year that was to come.
In the post shared on Instagram, Shubman’s bucket list included most hundreds for India, making his family happy, giving his best effort, winning World Cup and IPL Orange Cap.
“Exactly a year ago, I put it out into the universe. With 2023 coming to an end, the year has been full of experiences, some great fun and other great learnings. The end of the year didn’t go as planned, but I can proudly say we came ever so close to our goals, giving everything we had. The coming year brings its own challenges and opportunities. Hopefully, we’ll get closer to our goals in 2024. I hope all of you find love, joy, and strength in everything you do,” Gill captioned the post.
As per his bucket list for 2023, Shubman Gill managed to achieve nearly all of his dreams. He finished the year as the most prolific run-scorer in international cricket, amassing 2154 runs from 52 innings at an average of 46.82 with seven centuries. Only Virat Kohli (8) hit more hundreds than him this year.
Gill finished the IPL 2023 season as the leading highest run-getter with 890 runs at a strike rate of 157.80, including three tons and four half-centuries.
However, Shubman failed to relish his dream of lifting the World Cup. While India reached the final of the 2023 World Cup after winning 10 successive matches, they lost to Australia in the title clash on November 19 in Ahmedabad.
Gill had a decent World Cup after missing the first couple of matches due to dengue, aggerating 354 runs at an average of 44.25 in nine outings.
