Suryakumar suffered an ankle injury while fielding during the third T20I in Johannesburg.
While the BCCI is yet to release a statement on Surya’s injury, a report published in The Indian Express claimed that the dashing right-hander suffered a Grade-II tear in his left ankle after it got twisted during the third T20I in Johannesburg.
According to the report, this injury will keep Suryakumar out of the Indian squad till February 2024 and he will miss the upcoming home T20I series against Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav on Saturday (December 23) shared a video on Instagram, in which he can be seen walking with a supporter. He was also spotted wearing a pneumatic walker boot.
“On a slightly serious note, injuries are never fun, but I’ll take it in my stride and promise to be back, fully fit, in no time! Till then, hope you all are enjoying the holiday season and finding little joys, everyday,” Surya captioned the video.
Suryakumar, 33, led India during the T20I series in South Africa. The three-match series ended 1-1 after the first game was abandoned due to rain.
Surya finished the series with 156 runs from two innings, including one hundred and one half-century.
