In an example of mega luck, a batter in English country cricket survived despite getting hit wicket after his bat broke while playing a shot. Lewis Goldsworthy was saved on a technicality despite having his stumps disturbed.

The incident in question happened during a County Division 1 game between Somerset and Kent. Goldsworthy was well set and marching towards a century when Kent skipper Jack Leaning handed the ball to Jaskaran Singh. The pacer bowled a full inswinging delivery to Goldsworthy who mistimed the drive.

In the process, his bat broke while playing the shot and a chunk of it flew onto his stumps, knocking the bails off. This left Lewis in shock and would have been one of the most bizarre dismissals in cricketing history.
