India is celebrating its 77th Independence Day, today, on August 15, 2023.
India gained its Independence from the British on August 15, 1947, after more than 200 years of occupation. It is an occasion of joy and pride. And on the other hand, it also reminds everyone that the country is indebted to all those people who lost their lives to gain independence. The flag hoisting ceremony among other ritual events takes place at New Delhi's historic Red Fort.
This year, like last year, the central government promoted the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative in which the regular citizens of the country were encouraged to fly the tricolor at their houses and it received an overwhelming response from everyone.
Celebrating this amazing occasion, Indian cricket team members and the Indian cricket fraternity took to X, formerly Twitter, to wish fellow citizens.
