Kusal Mendis ran-out Lahiru Samarakoon with an underarm throw despite facing it sideways.
While the former India skipper didn’t have a copybook technique, he developed his own way of keeping wickets which proved to be highly effective. Among many of his signature moves, no-look run-out was considered to be an art mastered only by him.
His unusual technique has been tried by many other keepers with some success. Most recently, Kusal Mendis emulated it in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023 clash between Dambulla Aura and Galle Titans.
During the final over of the Galle innings, Mendis quickly collected a wayward throw and ran-out Lahiru Samarakoon with an underarm throw despite facing it sideways.

Coming to the match, Dambulla Aura defeated Galle Titans by seven wickets at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on August 11.
Chasing 134 to win, Dambulla rode on Avishka Fernando’s unbeaten 70 off 49 balls to overhaul the target with 14 deliveries to spare.
