The 2023 edition of Lanka Premier League got underway on July 30.
Colombo Strikers won the toss and opted to bowl first. Afghanistan’s wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz tried to make the most of the powerplay for his team as he slammed 21 off 11 balls with 1 four and 2 sixes before getting out.
Gurbaz was dismissed by Pakistan speedster Naseem Shah in the third over of Jaffna Kings’ innings. Cricket fans are aware of the rivalry between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Hence, there was no surprise that Naseem was over the moon after removing Gurbaz.
In a video doing rounds on social media, Naseem Shah looked animated while celebrating the wicket. He also said a few words to Rahmanullah Gurbaz when the opener was making his way back to the pavilion.

Coming to the match, Jaffna Kings posted 173/5 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. Towhid Hridoy was the top scorer with 39-ball 54.
Naseem Shah returned with the bowling figures of 1 for 30 in his three overs.
