Taking a cue from England’s ‘Bazball’ approach which denotes an aggressive and fearless brand of cricket, that became a thing when Ben Stokes became the Test captain and Brendon McCullum became the Test coach, Pakistan has also adopted a similar strategy.

In their ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka, which Pakistan leads 1-0, the Babar Azam-led side completely dominated the hosts on day one of the second Test match in SSC, Colombo.

After bundling out Sri Lanka for 166, Pakistan took control on the first day of the second Test and as they scored 145/2 in just 28.3 overs in Colombo. While Abrar Ahmed picked 4 wickets and Naseem Shah took three, it was the Pakistan batters who impressed.

Opener Abdullah Shafique hammered 74* in 99 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes, while Shan Masood made 51 in 47 balls. The duo added 108 runs for the second wicket in just 19.2 overs.

Pakistan's aggressive style of play impressed the former pacer Shoaib Akhtar who coined the term 'PakBall' after his team's dominating performance against Sri Lanka.

"Is #PakBall becoming a bit of a thing?," Akhtar tweeted on Monday.

This coinage of the term by Shoaib Akhtar received interesting reactions from Twitterverse.
