Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) and MI New York (MINY) faced each other in Match 6 of Major League Cricket (MLC) 2023 at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas on Sunday (July 16).

The match turned out to be completely one-sided as MINY thrashed LAKR by 105 runs to open their winning account in the tournament.

Apart from MI New York’s dominance, the game also hogged the limelight for Kieron Pollard’s hilarious celebration after dismissing his compatriot Andre Russell.

During the 10th over of Knight Riders’ innings, MINY skipper Pollard opted for a review after the umpire ruled a decision in the favour of Russell, who failed to connect a pull shot.

In the reply, it was ascertained that the ball was close to the toe-end of the bat and there was a slight spike.

As a result, the TV umpire asked the on-field umpire to overturn his decision, which led to Pollard going crazy with his celebratory dance followed by some amusing pose.

Here’s the video:

Coming to the match, MINY posted 155/8 on the board after opting to bat first. Tim David top scored with 48 off 21 balls while Nicholas Pooran made 38 off 37 balls.

In reply, LAKR’s innings folded for a paltry 50 in just 13.5 overs. It was a listless batting performance as only one played in the line-up managed to reach the double-digit mark. Unmukt Chand was the top scorer with 26.
