The Jonny Bairstow stumping dismissal saga is not dying anytime soon despite the second Ashes 2023 Test ending in Australia defeating England by 43 runs and going 2-0 up in the five-Test series.

Despite a valiant 155 runs by England skipper Ben Stokes, the whole focus turned towards the way Jonny Bairstow was dismissed by Australian keeper Alex Carey.

Bairstow was out stumped after Alex Carey hit the timber with an under-arm throw while the England batter had moved out of his crease postr ducking a Cameron Green bouncer.

The TV umpire was consulted as a result of Australians appealing and the result came out in Bairstow being given out.

This led to a continuous chant of ‘cheaters’ at the Australian players and booing by the England crowd at the Lord’s.

While Australia did everything within the rules of the game, the dismissal did trigger the spirit of cricket debate among fans and former cricketers.

Ashes 2023: “That's definitely not me…,” Ben Stokes' witty reply to Australian newspaper's ‘crybabies’ jibe

And now in a viral video, after the game, when players from both sides were shaking hands, Jonny Bairstow can be seen giving a cold, hard stare to Pat Cummins and had a rather cold handshake with the Australian skipper.

While the wicket-keeper batter is yet to speak about the incident himself, but his cold stare at Cummins during the post-match handshake said it all.

Speaking of the Bairstow dismissal, Cummins said after the match: "I think Carey saw it a few balls previous, there was no pause, he catches it and throws it straight at the stumps. I thought it was totally fair play. That's the rule, some people might disagree but just like the catch yesterday, the rule is there and that is the way I saw it."

The third Test match will be played from July 6 onwards at the Headingley ground.
