Ashes 2023: Broad reminded about his hypocrisy after ‘'you'll always be remembered' sledge to Carey after Bairstow's dismissal

Broad had refused to walk despite edging a ball to slips during Ashes 2013.

England pacer Stuart Broad was quick to comment on Jonny Bairstow’s controversial dismissal and sledged Australia keeper Alex Carey who had stumped the batter on day five of the second Ashes 2023 Test at Lord’s on Sunday.

The England wicketkeeper batter was out stumped after he casually wandered off after ducking a bouncer from Cameron Green, and because Bairstow left the crease even before the ball could be deemed dead is what led to the dismissal.

Though the dismissal was legal, the response from the raucous England crowd at Lord’s and the host's players was nothing short of absolute mayhem, as the crowd booed the Australians and chanted ‘cheaters’ at them.

Stuart Broad, who came in after Bairstow’s dismissal to join Ben Stokes in the middle, was caught sledging Carey by the stump mic. He said: "That's all you'll ever be remembered for.”

However, this sort of came back to bite Stuart Broad on his behind as soon after the video of his sledge to Carey went viral on social media, the fans were quick to expose him as a hypocrite and not the one for the spirit of the game.

Multiple videos of his infamous refusal to walk after clearly edging a ball during the 2013 Ashes series were shared on Twitter. Broad had edged a delivery from Ashton Agar clearly to the slips and despite loud appeals from Australians, the umpire didn’t budge.

Broad was swiftly reminded of this instance by Twitterati.
