Dragons defeated Panthers by 7 wickets chasing down 123 runs in 14.1 overs.
The Panthers were put into bat by Dragons’ captain R Ashwin who had won the toss. However, Sarvana Kumar and Suboth Bhati picked three wickets each to restrict Panthers to 123 runs only with Jagatheeshan Kousik top-scoring with 45 and Hari Nishaanth making 24 runs.
In response, the Dragons lost three early wickets of Shivam Singh, Vimal Kumar, and S Arun, all of them falling to Gurjapneet Singh for single-digit scores.
But then, Baba Indrajith made 78* in 48 balls and Adithya Ganesh’s 22* took the Dragons to the win by 7 wickets in 14.1 overs.
The wicket of S Arun was special as Murugan Ashwin of Panthers took an awesome catch to dismiss the batter.
Gurjapneet Singh bowled a wide short ball to Arun, who tried to swat at it and managed to edge it over the point position. Ashwin, running backward, put in a brilliant dive at the last moment to grab the ball in both hands to complete an astonishing catch.
