Karachi Kings pacer Mohammad Amir has been in the news lately for his ugly on-field behaviour in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season.

During Karachi’s match against Lahore Qalandars on Sunday (February 20), Amir was spotted making an obscene gesture while celebrating the dismissal of Shai Hope.

Amir claimed the scalp of Hope in the sixth over of Qalandars’ innings and ran in celebration towards the striker’s end, where he stood ahead of the stumps and pulled the famous Triple H celebration from the WWE.

Last week, former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi scolded Amir for his unruly behaviour on the field. Notably, Amir threw the ball in frustration after being hit for a boundary by Babar Azam in the second PSL 2023 match between Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi. In the same match, he was also seen sledging other Peshawar payers.

“Whenever a player doesn’t perform, or even if he does, I drop him a message for call him. Likewise, I messaged Amir yesterday. I talked to him respectfully, but I also scolded him. I told Amir, ‘what do you want?’ You have gained so much respect, you faced a blot on your reputation and from there, you made a return. You got a new life, in a way. What are you even trying to do?” Afridi said while speaking to Samaa TV.

“Ye koi tareeka hai? (Is this the way to play?) There are juniors around you, you are using bad words. There are fans who are disheartened to see that. Even we have used such words and, sometimes, the camera used to catch us. There are families, kids watching you on television. Aggression is fine, but keep it under control,” he added.

For ignoring Shahid Afridi’s message, Amir is also facing backlash from the fans on social media.
